The Cat of Misfortune

All of my problems started when that cat started showing up. It looked like a regular cat; black fur, forest green eyes and a slim frame. The first time I saw him, I bent down and stroked his fluffy fur gently, and he purred. I soon found out that this was simply an act. After I had come back home from work, I went upstairs to feed my hamster, but my beloved pet had passed away. At the time I thought this was simply an animal dying, nothing more, but this was just the first strange occurrence.

The next morning began on a bad note, as I had an argument with my wife, it was just a quarrel, nothing serious. When I was about to leave, I noticed the cat once again. I fed him some food, just a bit of chicken. The cat lifted his head up and looked at me, he shot me an odd look. In the moment I paid little attention to this, and continued on my way to work. It was at my job that I had been told that my elderly mother had presumably passed away, though no body had been found. It was at this moment I knew that that cat was evil. I quickly went home after my shift had ended. I couldn't let that cat near me or my garden again! He- no, it killed my hamster and mother! My wife had heard the news that my mother was dead, but was puzzled by why I'd blame a neighbourhood cat for my mum's passing, and she called me insensitive for mocking her death. Even if no one else believed me, I knew it was the cat's doing. I went online and ordered those spikes which you lay across the top of a fence.

The next day, the item had arrived. I called in sick to work: better to miss one day then allow an insidious "cat" to kill your family. I placed the spikes on the fence, I then went inside and watched from the window. After an hour I saw the cat in the neighbour's garden. It couldn't enter my garden, take that you stupid feline! But then I watched in horror as the cat hopped onto a bin and then my garage roof, jumping down into my garden. I grabbed a broom and rushed into the garden, pushing the broom at the cat to get it to leave. It hissed and ran away, acting as though it was timid and scared, which we all know is an act, as that monster is a murderer. But that cat could still enter my garden, I had to protect my house. So the next day I called in sick, and the day after that, and the day after that. For more than a dozen days I told my boss I was un-well, and at home I'd sit near the window, waiting for the cat to return so I could ward it off. My wife watched in disgust, continuously nagging me to shower and change into clean clothes. She was being ungrateful, I was protecting us! The next day started off unusually, as I would call the office, but this time the office called me. I had been fired from my job, I immediately told my wife the unfortunate news. She told me that it was shocking and devastating: she's an awful liar. I questioned her until she told me the truth: she had phoned up my work place and told them I wasn't ill. I then realised that cat had possessed her! Why else would she do such a thing to me when I'm trying to keep us safe? The cat must be mad that I'm shoving it with a broom and enacted revenge! I looked in my storage closet and pulled out a bottle of rat poison. I then entered my kitchen, and grabbed some meat from the fridge. I placed the meat into a bowl and poured two drops of poison onto it. I then got various medication and crushed the tablets into dust and sprinkled it on the meat. To mask the scent, I also threw some fish and chopped garlic into the mix. I placed the bowl outside, that demon cat had to go. I waited at the window, anticipating the cat's return. The cat walked smugly into the garden, it's so full of itself, it thinks that it's won and I'm about to allow it to take over my life. Well, your confidence will be the end of you! I sat, waiting for the abomination to feast upon the meal. It took one sniff of the food and walked away. I punched the wall, that damn cat! I heard footsteps down the stairs and saw my wife carrying her bags. She was leaving me behind because of my "obsessive" behaviour. I couldn't hold this against her, it was the cat after all. It was angry that I tried to kill it and is now controlling her, making her leave me by myself.

That was months ago though, and every day since I've kept watch over my garden, to stop that creature and get my life back. I won't stop until that monster is gone, that damned cat.
